Introduced to yoga after years of study of dance (including the classical Indian dance, Bharata Natyam, as well as ballet, tap, and modern dance), Laurah brings a depth of anatomical knowledge to her practice. She also completed courses in Swedish and Ayurvedic massage. Laurah offers a simple practice, grounded in her training in Sivananda’s system of 12 basic asanas, with a focus on breath and longer held postures. She has taught a wide range of bodies – from athletes and dancers, to people with physical limitations or concerns, including obesity, old age, and prenatal yoga. Yoga is for everybody!
In addition to her yoga background, Laurah holds a PhD in cultural anthropology, with a specialty in South India. She teaches at Utica University in the areas of health anthropology, gender, globalization, and food and culture.
