My Story

My life calling is to help people, as well as to understand the nature of reality. Though I became disheartened by the Western approach to medicine, I began practicing yoga around the same time that I studied the eastern traditions’ approach to the mind, body and spirit.

A B.A. in Philosophy led me to develop a cross-cultural perspective. Receiving my interdisciplinary 200 RYS, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra certifications has drawn me out of the purely intellectual, rational realm, and into that of the physical, causal and astral. This continues to inspire me to view my life in such a way that everything from grocery shopping, and cooking to walking in the forest or city becomes my sādhāna, my practice. The teachings of Hindu and Christian mystics have formed the foundation for my Contemplative practices. When I traveled to the land of duality, India in February of 2018, I practiced Ashtanga and Kriya Yoga. As karma would have it, I returned home experiencing chronic pain that has led me even deeper down the path of self-knowledge. The biggest challenges to the foundation of my practice have come from simple living and being willing to listen.

Guiding others towards self-discovery and self-healing through the principles of yoga humbles me every day. I am privileged to assist people in helping themselves! Regardless of where You’re at in life and Your practice, I know that together, we can invite deeper compassion and wisdom. As a student myself, I see the person within in each student, wherever they are along their journey: You who are just beginning and struggling for consistency, You who are just coming home to Your body or rehabing an injury, You who are seeking relief from stress, You who are trying to come to terms Your identity, and You who are certain and seasoned in Your practice – I see the cosmic giggle unfolding within You. I enjoy practiced on and far off the mat, enriching every aspect of living with sacred intention. I’ll invite You to do the same.

My classes and workshops are inspired by the tenants of historical wisdom. While no particular lineage has resonated completely, I enjoy using lots of props from Iyengar and principles of Ashtanga sequences in my own practice and when guiding students. I am initiated into the un-broken lineage of Kriya Yoga, as brought to the United States by Paramahamsa Yoganada. This inspired me to study timeless yogic texts, such as the Gheranda Samhita and Hatha Yoga Pradipika, for practices that focus and expand awareness. My regular class offerings are much like those I enjoy receiving – a blend of breathing and dristi techniques within strengthening yang postures and meditative yin postures, interlaced with timeless wisdom from self-realized masters. To balance the entirety of Your BEing, I place a emphasis on connecting to Source – both the Earth, for stability, grounding and embodied connection, and the Formless for loving, intuitive inter-connection.

In loving awareness, namaste~
