Like Attracts Like
The qualities in the people around us are directly related to the traits that exist within ourselves. Like attracts like. We attract individuals into our lives that mirror who we are. When you look at the people in your life, you will likely see what exists within yourself. Understanding this, it’s not hard to realize why certain types of people continue to come into our lives (good and bad). As within, so without. Change in the outside world cannot occur until we change what’s happening within ourselves.
Mirrors of Self Reflection
When we notice positive attributes within another person, we are seeing the same goodness that resides within ourselves. Likewise, when we observe negative traits within another, we are witnessing those parts of ourselves that we do not like. Because we are all mirrors for each other, analyzing the people in our lives uncovers a lot about ourselves. It’s easy to see the traits we don’t like in others. It’s more difficult to realize that we possess those same qualities. Remember, the habits, attitudes and behaviors of others are closely linked to our own unconscious and unresolved issues.
Lessons through the Looking Glass
When you come into contact with someone you admire, search yourself for similar traits. Equally, when you meet someone exhibiting characteristics that you dislike, accept that you are looking at your own reflection. Looking at yourself through your perception of others can be a humbling and eye opening experience. Cultivate within yourself the traits and behaviors that are appealing. Be loving and respectful to all people and you will attract individuals who will love and respect you. Nurture compassion and empathy. Let the goodness you see in others be your true manifestation.
The Mirror of Change
The world is constantly exposing you to the true nature of your inner being. If you are ever unsure of yourself or how people may perceive you, look around. Recognize the types of individuals you are attracting into your life. Realize how they make you feel (positive and negative). Nourish those attributes you find appealing and use the others as contrast for what you wish to see changed within yourself. By consciously working to harness the light inside yourself, you open the door for continued understanding and growth. We are all here to evolve through the betterment of ourselves and the world.
