Pilates for Beginners
Pilates is a form of exercise and body conditioning developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, used mostly as a method of injury recovery. There is nothing forced or unnatural about adopting the Pilates Method. Some of the principles that guides the Pilates Method include concentration on each movement, use of the abdomen and low back muscles, flowing movement patterns that are precise and steady controlled breathing. From small weights to bands and blocks to the “magic circle,” a ring-shaped piece of equipment that offers a level of resistance for various exercises, there are a number of simple tools used for many Pilates exercises. Through the Pilates Method students will develop clarity of execution, moving within basic Pilates principles, finding one’s center core, expanding spatial awareness, and building one’s confidence.
