Yoga is far beyond the physical postures on the magazine cover. Sandy's classes are designed to take u to a higher consciousness, intertwining the other limbs of Yoga
The discovery of Transcendental Meditation at 11 allowed Sandy to reinforce the ability to 'just be' and lead a peaceful life path.
For years, her physical practice involved simply 4 asanas held with mindfulness for anywhere from 60-90 minutes apiece: sarvangasana, halasana, padmasana, and sirsasana.
Hitch hiking to Omega Holistic Institute became her summer weekends and retreating at the Feathered Piper Ranch pulled Sandy into close and intimate teachings of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, Ram Dass, BKS Iyengar and Yogi Bhajan to mention a few early influences.
"What Yoga path do I follow?".. There wasn't a clear answer to her....so she continued with trainings with others from Sri Dharma Mittra to Sri Swami Satchidanandaji Maharaj to Sean Corne. I found so much soul and health in it all. After all, they all lead to the same place.
************* In my case, I had studied and practiced Yoga mainly Raja, Karma, Bhakti and Jnana Yoga for 25 years before Hatha 'teacher trainings'.
There is a large amount of beauty and wisdom in expanding into so many lineages……I am able to pull many tools out of my toolbox…… providing yoga available to all students of all abilities. I hold respect for all lineages and feel they all have something wonderful to offer. I am humbled to teach what I live, and possess a deep care for my students and lighting their paths.
Arrive, land, and be. Give yourself permission to receive. I offer to you the kind of class I would want to take. Some challenge, some stillness, some gentleness, some soul, some wisdom and lots of heart. As your guide, I strive to lead you to your place of stillness and magical clarity.
(Expect a strong emphasis on alignment and pranayama.)
Teaching Yoga is not about me – it is about my students! My students all have different needs. Each of them is unique and that’s just the way it should be! Remember to take time daily to visit yourSelf. ~ Sandy
