Interdisciplinary Yoga
Yoga is far beyond the physical
postures on the magazine cover.
Sandy's classes are designed to take u
to a higher consciousness,
intertwining the other limbs of Yoga

The discovery of Transcendental
Meditation at 11 allowed Sandy to
reinforce the ability to
'just be' and
lead a peaceful life path.

For years, her  physical practice
involved simply 4 asanas held
with mindfulness for anywhere
from 60-90 minutes apiece:
sarvangasana, halasana,
padmasana, and sirsasana.

Hitch hiking to Omega Holistic
Institute became her summer
weekends and retreating at the
Feathered Piper Ranch pulled Sandy
into close and intimate teachings
of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, Ram
Dass, BKS Iyengar and Yogi
Bhajan to mention a few early
influences.

"What Yoga path do I follow?"..
There wasn't a clear answer to
her....so she continued with trainings
with others from Sri Dharma
Mittra to Sri Swami
Satchidanandaji Maharaj  to Sean
Corne.  I found so much soul and
health in it all. After all, they all lead
to the same place.

*************
In my case, I had studied and
practiced Yoga mainly Raja, Karma,
Bhakti and Jnana Yoga for 25 years
before Hatha 'teacher trainings'.

There is a large amount of beauty
and wisdom in expanding into so
many lineages……I am able to
pull many tools out of my
toolbox…… providing yoga
available to all students of all
abilities.  I hold respect for
all
lineages
and feel they all have
something wonderful to offer.
I am humbled to teach what I
live, and possess a deep care for
my students and lighting their
paths.

Arrive, land, and be. Give yourself
permission to receive. I offer to
you the  kind of class I would
want to take. Some challenge,
some stillness, some gentleness,
some soul, some wisdom and lots
of heart.
As your guide, I strive to lead you
to your place of stillness and
magical clarity.

(Expect a strong emphasis on
alignment and pranayama.)

Teaching Yoga is not about me – it is
about my students! My students all
have different needs.
Each of them is
unique and that’s just the way it
should be!
Remember to take time daily to visit
yourSelf. ~ Sandy

Kripalu Yoga / Yin Yoga
After living in New York City fir
two and a half decades, I moved to
the Finger lakes region in 2005
where I could be near my mother.

In New York, I earned an M. Div
from Union Theological Seminary
and worked with the chronically
homeless, who were often mentally
ill and addicted.  I was first
introduced to Yoga in 1998 during a
period of intense personal transition
and the practice has become a
central aspect of my life ever since.
After a couple of years of regular
classes I began to take notice the
power of the breath in my life off
the mat - especially when
confronted with the crisis situations
so common in my work.  The
ability to breathe, observe without
judgment, and resist reacting
impulsive served me we in volatile
environments.

When I relocated upstate I had the
opportunity to surrender to my
love of Yoga and earned my 200
hour certificate

With her Kripalu certification and
trainings with Sarah Powers in
Yin Yoga, her offerings will reach
deeply into the body, mind and
heart.

Iyengar Inspired
I am certified through the National
Yoga Alliance and
completed my 200 hour training
at the Center for Yoga of
Seattle ~ an Iyengar Yoga School.

Having initially practiced in
Vinyasa I came to the realization
that Vinyasa was not true to the
yoga tradition passed down over
5,000 years.  I felt there must be
something more and had the lucky
gift of learning about Mr. BKS
Iyengar & the Iyengar method
of teaching.

I found a calmness in my heart
through doing the poses, based in
building strength thru stability.
I was able to delve deeper into
my understanding of the body and
mind connection.  I am grateful
for the teachings of Mr. BKS
Iyengar and through his teachings
have come to find greater strength
& stability in my body & my
mind.

Yoga has given me the courage
& confidence to do things I
never thought I could.  It has
opened doors into my heart &
soul and given me the ability to
find a place within of true
happiness.

I have completed a workshop on
Yoga and Depression with
Francois Raoult and continue to
further my studies with him.  I am
also interested in dance,
Ayurveda and holistic health.

AFAA

Nadine holds several fitness certifications through the AFAA
(Personal and Group).  She received her IMX Pilates
Certification in New York City  as well as trained and studied
Tai-Chi and Qi-Gong  at the Institute of Rochester.

Somatics is a system of neuromuscular re-education to
help relieve lower back pain, tight shoulders, stiff neck, sciatic pain
and many other body discomforts. Somatic stretching is a valuable
addition to the routines of yoga students to facilitate free and
deeper movements.

Tai Chi, sometimes described as "meditation in motion",
promotes serenity through gentle movements that connect the mind
and body. Originally developed in ancient China for self-defense, Tai
Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used
for stress reduction, balance, coordination and improving
overall feelings of well-being.

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps to build
flexibility, strength, endurance and coordination through a series of
fluid, controlled movements that strengthen the "powerhouse" core.
Students are taught the concepts of core strength and stabilization as
well as how to use your "powerhouse" throughout life's
daily activities. See u at the studio

Practicing yoga cultivates this
platform where I can simply be..I
can be with mySelf in a soft and
challenging space-mindful of my
breath, my body, my truth..with all
of my decidedly human foibles
along for the journey.

Hatha yoga provides this
opportunity to practice on the mat
what we encounter in life.  A
balancing of opposites – strength
and flexibility -creating the space
to breathe and hold this elusively
paired duo.  This balancing act is
not a striving for perfection but
rather a conscientious effort to be
with yourSelf as you stay amidst
the fluctuations found on the mat
and in your life.

Ever inquisitive, I have this
insatiable desire to keep learning
about various lineages, and
perspectives, enriching my practice
as both teacher and student. With
gratitude, I continue to gather the
wisdom of this practice with the
heartfelt intention of sharing its
beauty with others.

Passionate about sharing the
limitless possibilities of yoga, I
offer an ever-evolving blend of
classes ranging in pace from gentle
movement and passive, restorative
poses to those with a blend of
heat-building vinyasa (flow)
sequences and cooling, grounding,
active stretches.  Classes are
infused with a hearty dose of
purposeful alignment, a sprinkling
throughout of compassionate self-
awareness, and an emphasis on
mindful breath and deep,
grounding relaxation. Come share
in this daring and delicate
explor
ative practice and cultivate a
space to be with your breath, your
body, your truth, yourSelf.
